NHI: Largest-Scale Mill Product Since Mixed-Ownership Reform Passes Factory Acceptance
On January 12th, the largest-scale SAG mill manufactured by Northern Heavy Industries (NHI) since its mixed-ownership reform passed factory acceptance in a single attempt. All performance indicators met the contract requirements, and the equipment is ready for shipment to the customer's site. This marks another milestone event following the successful factory trial run of a ball mill contracted with the same customer on December 8, 2025. It not only signifies NHI's technological strength in the high-end mining equipment sector gaining renewed international recognition, but also demonstrates the remarkable achievements the enterprise has made through deepening reforms and innovation-driven development since the mixed-ownership reform.
As a core backbone enterprise in China's equipment manufacturing industry, NHI has consistently adhered to the core strategy of "innovation-driven, technology-led" since its mixed-ownership reform in 2019. It has continuously tackled key challenges in the field of large-scale mining mills. NHI possesses the capability for R&D, production, and manufacturing of Φ4.0-12.2m SAG mills, Φ2.4-8.2m Ball mills, and 100kw-4500kw vertical screw mills. It has secured over 150 orders and delivered more than 400 mill units. Its mining equipment, including SAG mills, ball mills, and vertical screw mills, has achieved notable success in the domestic market and has been exported to overseas markets such as the Middle East and Africa. In the field of large SAG mills, NHI has achieved multiple breakthroughs in specifications from Φ6.4m and Φ7.9m to Φ8.8m, propelling domestic mining equipment into the global high-end market. The successful development of China's first domestically produced large-scale vertical screw mill MLL1200, the world's largest vertical screw mill MLL3360, and the internationally pioneering permanent magnet semi-self-driving MLL3000 also marks NHI's R&D and manufacturing level for vertical screw mills reaching international leading standards.
The Φ8.8×4.8m wet SAG mill that passed this acceptance features a variable-frequency drive system for energy saving and consumption reduction, and is equipped with intelligent monitoring and power-off protection devices to ensure operational safety. Its processing efficiency and stability have reached internationally advanced levels. This equipment will be used for crushing and grinding operations in large-scale mines, capable of simplifying traditional multi-stage crushing and screening processes. With its core advantages of "high efficiency, energy saving, and intelligence," it will provide crucial equipment support for local mineral resource development.
During the acceptance process, customer representatives and NHI's technical team conducted comprehensive inspections of the equipment's mechanical performance, assembly accuracy, operational parameters, etc. After several consecutive rounds of rigorous testing, all equipment indicators met or even exceeded design standards, earning high praise from the customer. This order represents the largest-scale mill product contract signed by NHI since the mixed-ownership reform and is a significant achievement in the company's strategy of "using established channels to venture overseas" to expand into high-end international markets. It establishes a high-quality reputation for "Made in China, Made by NHI" in the global mining equipment market.
The successful acceptance of this equipment highlights the company's comprehensive strength in system integration and international services. The next step involves completing equipment packaging and shipment according to plan, with professional service ensuring smooth delivery and installation. Looking ahead, NHI will continue to accelerate the intelligent and green transformation of its high-end equipment, further expand cooperation in the field of high-end equipment manufacturing, and contribute more power as "heavyweights of a major nation" to the revitalization of the old industrial bases in Northeast China and international cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative.
